It sucks when things get messy, especially when itās this kind of messy. Weāve been watching Jesus Piece unravel over the last few days, and it hasnāt been a pretty sight. Last Tuesday (August 26), the band announced their breakup and not too long after, frontman Aaron Heard said he was still going to perform under the name Je$us Piece. Heard made several other comments, and now the bandās guitarist John Distefano has decided to respond to them.
What made DiStefano bite the bait was Heardās accusations that the other members tried repeatedly to kick him outāone big point of contention being one instance where the band allegedly wanted to give him the axe because he wanted to spend Halloween with his son. Shitty, if true, but it was immediately put to bed by drummer Luis āLuā Aponte. DiStefanoās response addressed other issues, including all the sacrifices made by everyone else, and why Heard would even want to keep playing under the Je$us Piece if he has such a goddamn disdain for the rest of the band in the first place.
DiStefanoās full statement reads as follows:
ā@aaronheard Thatās sad to hear you got no love for me anymore despite 10 years of JP and a couple years of HTP together.
āCan you remind me about the time we tried to replace you when you got held at the border and I drove back 3 hours to get you at 4am on no sleep?
āAnd I guess none of us have any family or loved ones we sacrificed from being on tour either. I just have a dog, I know. I wish every band that asked us to tour with them took holdidays and birthdays into consideration too. Anyone thatās ever been in a full time touring band wishes the same.
āI actually remember having a conversation last year with Dave where you told me we should be touring more? Didnāt you also mention we should find a replacement for Lu now that heās in France?
I figured the family aspect of the break up would be your only angle because it hits the hardest with people. Now that you lied about all that itāll forever be disputed regardless of what I or the other guys say.
āStill confused as to why you quit to take care of them and decided that a month later you were going to continue the band without us.
āI guess when a label dangles money out there itās hard to say no. Itās funny because you probably couldāve started a new band and gotten bigger than us but you chose to run with the same name.
Itāll forever make me sad the band went down this way. Thatās the worst part about this. We probably wouldāve even done something new together.
See you around Philly manā
