Metalcore veterans Demon Hunter have officially announced their twelfth studio album, There Was A Light Here, set for release on September 12, 2025, via the band’s independent label, Weapons MFG. Following the conceptual scope of 2022’s Exile, the upcoming record continues to push boundaries with a deeply personal tribute to frontman Ryan Clark‘s late mother, serving as an emotional exploration of love, loss, and the duality of light and darkness.
Preorders for There Was A Light Here are now live, with CDs, limited-edition vinyl variants, and cassettes available exclusively through the band’s official store. The album spans 12 emotionally charged tracks, blending Demon Hunter‘s signature intensity with moments of melodic vulnerability. Production duties were handled by Clark and guitarist Jeremiah Scott, with mixing and mastering by renowned producer Zeuss (Rob Zombie, Hatebreed, Suffocation), except for the title track, which was mixed by Eric Stenman (Deftones, Thrice, AWOLNATION).
In the lead-up to the album’s release, Demon Hunter has already dropped three singles — “I’m Done,” “Light Bends,” and “Sorrow Light The Way” — each accompanied by visually arresting music videos. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, with “Sorrow Light The Way” breaking into YouTube Music’s Top 50 Metal Videos, debuting among the top 20 active releases.
Emerging in 2002, Demon Hunter has helped define the landscape of modern metalcore with nine Billboard 200 entries, six Top 5 Hard Rock Albums, and two No. 1 Independent Albums. Their 2022 album Exile debuted at No. 3 on the Current Hard Music and Independent Albums charts, and No. 9 overall in U.S. Album Sales. With a YouTube audience exceeding 600,000 monthly listeners, the band remains a vital and influential force.
Adding to the excitement, four rare Demon Hunter tracks — “I Align,” “THE BRINK,” “Some Of Us,” and “Worlds Apart” — will be pressed on 7″ vinyl for the first time later this year as part of Z2 Comics’ deluxe graphic novel edition of the Exile four-issue series.
The band will hit the road this fall for the There Was A Light Here U.S. Tour, with a powerful support lineup including War Of Ages, Convictions, and Cultists. In addition, Demon Hunter is set to perform at major rock festivals Louder Than Life in Louisville and Aftershock in Sacramento, further solidifying their place at the forefront of the heavy music scene.
The tour launches on September 19 in Louisville, KY with a performance at the massive Louder Than Life Festival, and wraps up on October 11 at the Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville, TN, offering fans across the country a chance to experience Demon Hunter‘s signature blend of melodic aggression and spiritual intensity.
