Itโs beginning to sound like new Baroness is on the horizon, as the band gets ready to head into the studio this summer. Details surrounding the sludge metal bandโs seventh album and follow up to 2023โs STONE have been scarce at best, but some new details have emerged thanks to guitarist Gina Gleason.
While speaking with Guitar World about the band, her side project Ecliptor, and a whole buncha other stuff, Gleason admitted that the bandโs been eyeing new tunes for some time.
โThe past year weโve been touring the Red and Blue records. Iโm a huge fan of those records, especially Blue. Weโve also been working on new music for the better part of a year and a half. The challenge now is whittling it down and finding the identity of the album, before going into the studio around July.โ
That last bit about finding the albumโs identity is huge for a band like Baroness. When we last spoke with Gleason and frontman John Baizley, they spoke at great lengths about STONEโs identity and how itโs its own thing compared to all the albums named after colors.
I donโt know about you, but hearing about new Baroness has me extremely excited. These guys donโt miss, so itโs going to be a blast to learn and hear more about this upcoming record as things materialize.
