Earlier this week, we reported on the fact that a new collaboration between French post-punk artist and ex-Savages vocalist Jehnny Beth and Mike Patton was on the horizon. The track, dubbed โ€œLook At Meโ€, was released today and though itโ€™s definitely an interesting piece of music, the video certainly is provocative.

For those that either donโ€™t care about watching this sort of thing at work or in front of common folk, just know that the video for โ€œLook At Meโ€ is sexually charged like a motherfucker. Maybe donโ€™t watch it among good company, is all Iโ€™m saying.

When it comes to the song, it absolutely makes sense that Mike Patton would get involved with it. The tune is broad with its style, carrying with it a thumping, almost aggressive electronic beat that at times pushes into the more industrial side of things. Beth whispers her singing in parts before chanting along with Patton.

Beth said Patton was a huge influence on her when she was recording her 2025 album You Heartbreaker, You. So when she and her partner Johnny Hostile decided to write โ€œLook At Meโ€ in two parts, she immediately knew she wanted the ex-Faith No More vocalist on the track.

โ€œWhen Mike sent his vocals it was like choosing candy in a candy store, he had a million ideas, it was mind blowing.โ€

As for the meaning of the track, Beth said it was about โ€œthe modern sellers of truth, who share their opinion online on how to โ€˜better oneself,โ€™ giving an illusion of control โ€” but all they really want is to be the centre of attention.โ€
